The Concept

The concept for this project is to take data from a variety of Web 2.0 services and combine that data with the Google Maps platform to create social information that is spatially referenced. The general idea is to mash-up this data to show where a user is, what tasks or meetings they might have, and how they get around. This information could be particularly useful when attempting to schedule a meeting with another individual minus the convenience of a car. Both users could simply judge when their schedules align geographically and temporally to select the most appropriate meeting time and location.

This project will rely heavily on data in RSS, XML, GeoRSS, and traditional GIS formats. A portion of the static geographic information will be constructed using traditional GIS tools. The reminder will be an amalgamation of developing web services catering personalized dynamic content.
